Crimsoncrisp
Availability: Early October – Thanksgiving
Dark reddish apple perfectly situated between sweet and tart. One of the hardest and longest lasting apples we sell; perfect December holiday displays, baking and eating. Be warned, this may become your new favorite apple!
Earligold
Availability: Early August – Late September
When ripe, this very sweet very thin-skinned apple is super refreshing out of your refrigerator crisper drawer. They come in early, but also go out early as they soften up relatively quick.
Empire
Availability: Early October – Thanksgiving
Wonderful sweet late apple with perfect white meat that stores very well. This smaller apple stays crisp and resembles a McIntosh in sweetness without the softer core. Perfect for kids lunches and apples sauce.
Enterprise
Availability: Late October – Thanksgiving
Large red apple that resides on the tart side. This apple is firm and crisp with a thicker skin, spicy aroma that has mild tartness.
Evercrisp
Availability: Late October – Thanksgiving
This smaller sweet apple was bred from the Fuji and the Honeycrisp. This delightful eating apple is perfect for salads and lunchboxes, stores well as it is considered a winter apple.
Fireside
Availability: Mid September – Late October
A superb eating apple that has better storage characteristics than the Jonathan that it closely resembles. These smaller apples are great for snacks and it’s white fruit and thicker skin stores very well. While being on the tarter side, this apple has a tanginess that many people associate with the Jonathan.
Fuji
Availability: Early September – Early October
Beautifully sized sweet apple with perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess. Rose blushed skin is on the thinner side while keeping a very crisp juicy inside perfectly stored.
Gala
Availability: Early September – Early October
Otherwise known as an early Red Delicious, this sweet eating apple does offer a thinner skin in comparison to the Red delicious. Comes in relatively early and offers a smaller fruit that perfect for salads and snack time. Will stay sweet and crisp in your refrigerator.
Haralson
Availability: Late August – Late September
The tartest apple we sell, plain and simple. This smaller heirloom apple is a little on the dry side, but can perfectly balance out any pie or sauce you make.
HoneyCrisp
Availability: Mid September – Mid October
The apple that has started a revolution. Nothing really more to say other than it has it’s problems in storage, so hopefully they don’t last that long in your refrigerator. This University of Minnesota apple has perfect sweetness to complement its crisp yellowish meat that it inherits from being crossed with the Norther Spy. A true crowd pleaser.
Ida Red
Availability: Mid October – Christmas
This wonderful semi-sweet winter apple comes in late and stays even later, perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas salads and stuffing. After the Cortland’s soften up later in the season, we switch our caramel apples and apple pies over to this crisp, well balanced apple.
JonaGold
Availability: Late September – Early November
A great tasting eating apple that is crossed between the ever so willing Jonathan and the Golden delicious. This mildly tart apple is absolutely perfect for salads and cheese boards around Wisconsin. This crisp fruit will store well and contain a tanginess of the Jonathan to liven up lunches and snack time.
JonaMac
Availability: Mid September – Mid October
A very nice twist to the common McIntosh, the flavor of the Jonathan apple really helps balance the sweetness that the McIntosh brings to the table. Smaller fruit does soften up easy, but it’s perfect for lunches and apple sauce.
Liberty
Availability: Mid October – Thanksgiving
Medium sized apple that is a tad on the sweet side and perfect for eating, salads, and apple butter. This crunchy, zingy sweet flavored apple can also be used for cooking, and stores well because of it’s long stem and thinker skin.
Macoun
Availability: Late September – Late October
Tinned skinned apple with a juicy and aromatic inside. Great for eating and baking.
Northern Spy
Availability: Mid October – Thanksgiving
This heirloom apple the mother of the Honey Crisp apple! Sweet yellowish meat that is silky smooth that resembles a candy rather than a fruit. Not found in major production due to storage difficulties and it’s trademark scab on the top of the fruit, just like the Prairie Spy.
Paula Red
Availability: Mid August – Mid September
Being one of the earliest apples, is starts out tart and ripens to a very sweet and soft apple. Usually apples that come in early, leave early in the season as their sugars develop too quickly and the fruit softens up very fast. Keep refrigerated and you can enjoy these in lunches and early season pies if you like a runnier pie.
Pippin
Availability: Late October – Thanksgiving
Smaller apple that is perfect for apple processing such as apple cider or baking purposes. Stores very well as it’s a winter apple, balanced between tart and sweet.
Prima
Availability: Late August – Late September
The prima is a yellowish medium sized apple that stays close to the middle between being tart and sweet. Great for baking, but it does not store very well as it comes in so early in the growing season.
Snow
Availability: Mid September – Mid October
A true heirloom apple that everyones grandma may recall. A very soft, very thinned flesh apple that bruises very easily. The snow white inside of this apple, contains one of the sweetest meats that apples can offer. Very hard to find because of the care that needs to be taken in every facet of the journey from tree to your kitchen.
Stayman
Availability: Late August – Late September
An early baking apple that stores very well and is perfect for caramel apples as they size very up very well. This tart apple is a little on the dryer side, but can stay weeks in your refrigerator waiting for a home in an apple pie.
Suncrisp
Availability: Early October – Thanksgiving
A very balance sweet apple without all the acidity. The apple is a cross between a Cortland/Orange Pippin and a Golden Delicious.
Winesap
Availability: Mid October – Christmas
This wonderful semi-tart winter apple comes in late and stays well into Thanksgiving and Christmas, perfect for salads and stuffing. The Winesap is very close to an Ida Red in color, crisp and overall taste, but it resides on the tart side, rather than the sweet side.
Wolf River
Availability: Mid September – Late October
This heirloom apple is outstanding for baking pies and apple crisp. It is a very dry apple and holds up very well in the oven, Reaching upwards of 2 pounds, this apple will save you time on peeling and coring.
Zestar
Availability: Late August – Late September
One of the first apples of the season, closely resembles a Honeycrisp that is often still weeks away when the Zestar ripens. Perfect sweet eating apple that stores well for an early apple, and has crispness likened to a midseason variety.
